Information in English
This is a general information about our balcony and facade renovation project. Continuous information throughout the process will be posted on the notice boards in the stairwells by our contractor SehedTresson.
Why we are doing this
The facade and the balconies of our house have not been extensively renovated since the house was built, and the lifespan of both the facade and balconies has been reached.
What will be done
The house will undergo an extensive renovation. The facade will be renovated as well as the balconies and the windows. This means that the plaster will be removed and the house will be re-plastered and repainted. The balconies will be removed and re-moulded. We will also replace the external window glass with heat-insulating glass and install solar panels on the roof, which will reduce our electricity costs.
Disruptions
There will be a lot of noise and vibration, mostly at the beginning of the renovation, when plastering and balconies are being removed. The vibrations may cause objects to fall from window sills and external walls.
What you need to do yourself
Flower pots etc. should be removed from the window sills, and paintings and other items on the exterior walls should be taken down. You will receive information on when this needs to be done.
When
The work is carried out between 8am and 5pm on weekdays.
How will you be affected
The windows will be covered with plastic for a lengthy period. It will not be possible to open windows or balcony doors during this period and the air intakes under the windows will be sealed, as the external works will generate a lot of dust. It might be a good idea to put a newspaper in the letterbox, for example, to improve air circulation in the apartment.
Access to your apartment
For a very limited time - a few days, but divided into several occasions - the contractor will need to have access to each apartment in order to carry out the various stages of the window renovation. The outer sash will be taken out and away for a few weeks for factory refurbishment and replacement with insulating glass. The inner sash will remain in place.
Access to the apartment can be organised in two ways. Either you leave the keys to the apartment, which the contractor signs and stores in a safe, and where the workers sign for the keys they need for the individual days they are to enter each apartment. The other option is to stay at home during the days the work is to be done. These days will be communicated through notes on each apartment door. If you have left keys, you are not dependent on knowing the time of the various stages of the window work.
Overall preliminary timetable
There is a very preliminary timetable, which describes how long the various stages usually take on average in a renovation like this. For our particular house, it is not certain in advance how long each stage will take, and the times given are only estimates. However, the contractor considers it very likely that the work will be completed by the time specified in the schedule.
Information
The contractor is responsible for providing information about the project and will post information in the stairwells on an ongoing basis.
